FDA Asks Pfizer to Pull Back Marketing of Celebrex

It seems the FDA can’t quite make up it’s mind about Pfizer’s mega-drug, Celebrex. Is it harmful, or is it safe?

In an unusual move that reflects serious concerns about the new results, the agency asked the company to suspend its use of direct-to-consumer advertising and alter its marketing to doctors, as regulators and the company examine the data from the National Institutes of Health trial. The commitment was “open- ended,” said John Jenkins, director of the FDA’s office of new drugs.

Russian Oil Giant Yukos bought by mystery company

PETER CAVE: A mystery Russian company has bought what’s been described as the heart of the country’s beleaguered oil giant, Yukos. The company’s main production unit was seized by authorities as part of a continuing claim for back-taxes which now total around $30 billion.

$30 billion in back taxes? And you thought that few thousand you owed the IRS was a lot!

EBay buying Rent.com for $415 million

On Friday, eBay announced that it is acquiring yet another Internet property, this time the online apartment and rental broker, Rent.com.

In a diversification move, online auctioneer eBay Inc. is buying the privately held Rent.com, which specializes in Internet listings of apartment and house rentals, for about $415 million in stock and cash.

While this is basically a big ad for their Hidden Gems service, it does have a pretty good message: If you want to become a millionaire, SAVE, SAVE, SAVE. But a worthwhile read nonetheless.
